The honest problem in many churches today is that people hear a message that they are saved by grace, but then quickly it turns to being discipled by their self-effort. Try harder, show up more, feel guilty, repeat. Good churches full of good people hand out a “religious treadmill” without meaning to. Grace got you in the door. But grace is also how you walk in a growing relationship with God.
We're planting this church. What we don't have yet is a launch Sunday — that comes out of the work below. Here's exactly where things stand.
First conversation. Who we are, what grace changes, and why Decatur.
Second conversation. Vision, mission, and the work in front of us.
Third conversation. Teams, people, and what a first year could look like.
Three gatherings will show us who God is gathering — the people, the team, the needs of this city. We take that to Him as we plan the new year, and out of that season we set our launch Sunday: summer or early fall of 2027. From January on, we gather more often and with more purpose, building toward that day.
But it does need the good news of God's limitless, saving, and transforming grace.
The gospel isn't just the doorway — it's the whole house.

Brian spent years preaching law and effort before he had his eyes opened to grace, and he'll tell you which one wore him out. He teaches like he's talking to one person across a table. He keeps the plans, the spreadsheets, and the calendar so the rest of us can breathe.
Blake writes songs in his kitchen and tests them on his kids first. He cares more about a room singing honestly than a set sounding perfect. If you show up early, he's the one already there moving cables and asking how your week actually went.
